INJECTION MOLDING PROCESS

Small pellets of plastic are loaded into the injection molding machine hopper. This loading process is done by conveying the pellets to the machine via material pipes powered by vacuum. This is an automatic operation.

 

The plastic is stored in a hopper mounted on the molding machine. As the molding process calls for more plastic material, a gate is pneumatically opened to allow the plastic to feed into the heating chamber by gravity.

 

In the closed heating chamber, the solid plastic pellets are heated into a liquid form. Once heated to the correct temperature, the plastic is forced into the mold under great pressure.

 

Once the plastic enters and fills the mold, it starts to cool down quickly. After the cooling process is completed, the mold opens and the finished part is ejected out of the mold onto a chute that conveys it to the operator.

 

The operator will collect the part, perform quality inspections and possibly perform any required secondary op-erations before packaging the finished part.

 

This process is fully automatic and is repeated on average every 60 seconds.
